Dominion Baseball Academy is an indoor/outdoor, baseball/softball instructional academy proudly serving the Northern Virginia Area since 2004. Dominion Baseball prides itself in providing quality life instruction through the use of baseball and softball. DBA has brought together a year-round staff of some of the most well rounded, skilled, passionate coaches in the area. We offer private, semi-private, small group and team instruction to players and teams of all ages and abilities. DBA also offers seasonal clinics, summer and winter baseball camps, Dominion Dragons baseball teams, facility memberships and rentals times, as well as birthday parties.

Mike Gallagher | Director of Baseball Operations

Mike GallagherMike has spent the majority of his baseball career in the Northern Virginia area where his accomplishments include being an All-District High School player, American Legion All-Star and All-Conference Collegiate player at Shenandoah University.
For five years, Mike coached at Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia where he served as a Varsity assistant, Head JV coach, and in 2006, Mike was named 2006 Patriot District Coach of the Year as the Head varsity coach of the Hayfield Hawks, leading the Hawks to a school record 17 wins | overall record: 17-6 (13-3).

Mike is currently the Head Varsity baseball coach at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Mike was named 2008 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Coach of the Year, after leading the Cardinals to the schools first ever WCAC Title Game.  The Cardinals repeated their trip to the WCAC Finals in 2009.

Mike is also the founder, Hitting Instructor and General Manager for the Old Dominion League Dominion Dragons. The ODL Dragons, since established in 2006, have accumulated an 88 – 59 - 4 overall record, and have sent several players on to college baseball. 

Coach Gallagher also works as an Associate Scout for the San Francisco Giants Organization.

Jason Olms | Director of Player Development

Jason OlmsJason is a former All-District All-Region High School player from West Springfield High School. Jason continued his education and baseball career at Principia College, where he was an All-Conference shortstop from 1996 through 1998. Jason then took his expertise abroad and began coaching and playing professionally in the Bundesliga League in Germany, playing for the Neunkirchen Nightmares and Strawburg Sun Warriors. Jason also played and coached professionally in Austria for the Attnang Athletics.

Jason is currently the Associate Head Varsity baseball coach at West Springfield High School and the Head coach of the 14u Dominion Dragons and the General Manager of the 13u and 14u Dragons program. Jason led the 2007, Spring and Fall, 13u Dominion Dragons to a 64-21 overall record, as well as several tournament championships, and a trip to the 13u AAU National Championships.

Jeremy Schutt | Hitting and Pitching Instructor

Jeremy SchuttJeremy Schutt is a graduate of Annanndale High School (97). During his High School career, Schutt was a three time All-District and All-Region player prior to playing college baseball at P.G. CC and Shenandoah University. Schutt was honored as an NCAA All-American at both schools and was the first Shenandoah player to have his number retired. While at Shenandoah U., Schutt set many records: D-3 Batting TItle (.506), USA South Triple Crown (.506 avg, 15 HR, 67 RBI's) and Highest Career Batting Average USA South (.423). Schutt has played for teams in the Clark Griffin League and the Front Royal Cardinals of the MLB sponsored Valley League. Schutt has been an assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at both West Potomac High School (Alexandria, VA) and Hayfield High School (Alexandria, VA). Coach Schutt is currently the Associate Head Baseball Coach for the DC Grays on the collegiate Clark Griffith League. Schutt is also currently the Head Baseball Coach of the 13u and JV Braddock Bearcats.

Ricardo Castillo | Lead Pitching Instructor

Ricardo CastilloCoach Castillo grew up and played baseball in Miami, Florida, graduating in 1999. Ricardo continued his baseball and education at Savannah State University where he was a Freshman All-American, and All Conference Selection. Coach Castillo also played for the Luray Wranglers of the MLB sponsored Valley League, where he was selected as a 2002 All-Star. After receiving his degree Coach Castillo began coaching at Savannah State, and served as the Associate Head Coach for 2004 and 2005 seasons. Ricardo moved to Northern Virginia in 2005, and he has been and is still currently the Head Coach of the Virginia Patriots varsity team. The Patriots have qualified for the AAU National Championships each year under Coach Castillo instruction. Ricardo is currently the Head Coach of the Dominion Dragons 13u team. Coach Castillo is also currently the Pitching Coach at Bishop Ireton High School, in Alexandria Virginia, and helped lead the Cardinals to the schools first ever conference title game.

Katlyn Winter | Lead Softball Instructor at DBA

Katlyn Winter

  • Graduated in top 5% of her class from Mentor High School in Mentor, Ohio 2004
  • Played 4 Years Varsity Softball at Mentor and was team captain her senior year 2001-2004
  • Earned Lake County All-Conference 3B Honors  2003-2004
  • Started all 4 years at 3B for George Mason University 2005-2008
  • Named to Colonial Athletic Association's All-Rookie Team   2005
  • Named to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List and earned the CAA Commissioner's Award   2006
