Mike Gallagher | Director of Baseball Operations

Mike has spent the majority of his baseball career in the Northern Virginia area where his accomplishments include being an All-District High School player, American Legion All-Star and All-Conference Collegiate player at Shenandoah University.

For five years, Mike coached at Hayfield High School in Alexandria, Virginia where he served as a Varsity assistant, Head JV coach, and in 2006, Mike was named 2006 Patriot District Coach of the Year as the Head varsity coach of the Hayfield Hawks, leading the Hawks to a school record 17 wins | overall record: 17-6 (13-3).

Mike is currently the Head Varsity baseball coach at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, Virginia. Mike was named 2008 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) Coach of the Year, after leading the Cardinals to the schools first ever WCAC Title Game. The Cardinals repeated their trip to the WCAC Finals in 2009.

Mike is also the founder, Hitting Instructor and General Manager for the Old Dominion League Dominion Dragons. The ODL Dragons, since established in 2006, have sent several players on to college baseball.
Coach Gallagher also works as an Associate Scout for the San Francisco Giants Organization.

 

Josh Bender / Director of Facility Operations

Coach Bender attended Hayfield Secondary School, where he played under  Mark Luther and Mike Gallagher   While at Hayfield, Coach Bender was a 3-year Varsity player, was apart of the 2006 Hayfield team that set records for wins, winning percentage, and home runs along with being named  All- District DH twice. After high school, Coach Bender attended Shenandoah University  and was a member of the 2009 Shenandoah team that set many school records: most wins in a season, best winning percentage, and most runs scored (#1 in all of NCAA baseball).  The Hornets won the 2009 South Regional (the first Regional title in school history) and finished only two games away from the Division 3 World Series.
In the fall of 2010, Coach Bender formed his own travel team, Virginia Seminoles, and went on to have a very successful 2 year run, highlighted by a 6th place (2011) and 3rd place (2012) finish in the USSSA World Series. The Seminoles went on to win 8 tournaments over that span.

Coach Bender is Currently the Assistant Varsity Coach at Bishop Ireton High School, as well as the Head Coach of  the DBA Dragons 15u Program.
